WASHINGTON – USA Swimming, the national governing body for the sport of swimming in the United States, announced today that the 2028 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Swimming will be held June 9-17, 2028, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. 

The nine-day meet will crown the athletes that will compete for Team USA at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and marks the second consecutive U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Swimming hosted at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Trials will be held over 9 days, from Friday, June 9 to Saturday, June 17, 2028, and move the event out of the traditional Saturday – Sunday format from 2024. The 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming, presented by Lilly, was the first time the Trials had been hosted in an NFL stadium, making Lucas Oil Stadium a premier swimming venue in the world. 

Over 285,000 fans attended nine days of Trials competition, setting a new swimming attendance record and generating more than $132 million in economic impact for Indianapolis.

The 2028 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Swimming will build on the success of 2024 with a few key updates to both the competition and the fan experience.

"Returning to Indianapolis gives us the opportunity not only to build on the success of 2024, but to make the Trials experience even better for our athletes and fans," said Kevin Ring, President and CEO of USA Swimming.

The competition schedule will be expanded to include more 50-meter stroke events contested at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. USA Swimming will announce the 2028 Trials qualification standards in mid-October, including details on the qualification window. 

Creating new opportunities for fans in Indianapolis, Toyota Aqua Zone and outdoor fan experiences along Georgia Street will return and build on the excitement of the 2024 Trials experience.

The 2028 Trials will include expanded premium hospitality experiences and an increased emphasis on the fan experience, both inside Lucas Oil Stadium and outside the venue.

USA Swimming and Indiana Sports Corp will once again partner to bring the event to Indianapolis, leveraging the immense success of the 2024 Trials.
